Post Doctoral fellow

Chandan Roy is a Postdoctoral Researcher (Research Associate-I) in the Department of

Biology at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Tirupati (IISER Tirupati),

India. He completed his Ph.D. in Botany from the University of Calcutta, where he

investigated the molecular and functional role of OsEULS2/Osr40g3 in rice stress responses.

Before his current position, he spent 1.6 years as a Postdoctoral Researcher (Research

Associate-II) at IISER Tirupati, working on engineering stress-resilient crops and

investigating molecular mechanisms underlying plant responses to environmental stresses.

His research interests encompass plant molecular biology, genome editing, crop

improvement, and plant stress biology. His current research focuses on root engineering

through genome editing in rice to develop resource-efficient crop genotypes. His broader

research experience includes drought, salinity, heat, and biotic stress responses, with

emphasis on identifying and functionally validating stress-responsive regulatory genes and

pathways.

He has expertise in CRISPR/Cas9-mediated genome editing, Agrobacterium-mediated plant

transformation, molecular cloning, gene expression analysis, protein-protein and protein-

DNA interaction studies, confocal microscopy, and transcriptomic analysis. He has worked

extensively with rice, Arabidopsis thaliana, Nicotiana, and Lathyrus.
